THE HUTTON REPORT WEDNESDAY 28 JANUARY 2004

Lord Hutton will deliver a statement in Court 76 at the Royal Courts of Justice on Wednesday 28 January 2004, the date on which his report will be published.

The statement will be delivered at 12.30pm after the report has been laid before Parliament but before its publication. This timing was arranged after discussions between Lord Hutton, the DCA and House authorities. The statement will be a substantial summary of Lord Hutton's findings. It will be available for live transmission through a pool facility.

Publication of the Report will take place at 1.30pm. The Report will be immediately available according to instructions below.

Lord Hutton's statement will be followed by a statement by the Prime Minister in the House of Commons and by the Secretary of State for Constitutional Affairs and Lord Chancellor, Lord Falconer, in the House of Lords.

DETAILS FOR LORD HUTTON'S STATEMENT

Court Seating for Media & Public

• 100 seats are allocated between the media (90) and the public (10) in Court 76 of the Royal Courts of Justice. The Court will open at 11.45am.
• In addition, 40 seats in Court 75 will be available as an annex for members of the public only, to view the statement on screens.
• Neither Lord Hutton nor the Inquiry Team will answer questions or give interviews.
• While Lord Hutton is delivering his statement, movement in Court 76 must be kept to an absolute minimum.

Media & Public Ticket Collection

• Media organisations listed in the table above must collect their tickets from DCA Reception, Selborne House, Victoria Street, London, SW1E 6QW on Tuesday 27 January between 2 - 4 pm.
• Media collecting tickets will be required to present a recognisable and valid press card or formal letter from the Editor on headed paper authorising collection. This letter must contain immediate contact details in case confirmation is required. Tickets must be collected and signed for in a single issue.
• Tickets for the public will be allocated by RCJ staff at 10.00am on Wednesday 28 January at the Bell Yard Entrance to the RCJ.
• Media organisations attending Court 76 are responsible for their own internal allocation. DCA does NOT require prior notification of this allocation.
• The Foreign Press Association is responsible for allocating the 10 seats available for international media (except US). For further details please contact Bob Jenner on 020 7930 0445 or bob.jenner@foreign-press.org.uk

DETAILS FOR REPORT DISTRIBUTION

When the Report is formally published at 1.30pm it will be available for distribution in hard copy, CD-ROM and on the Hutton Website, according to the following arrangements.
Every hard copy of the Report contains a CD-ROM copy in the back of the cover sleeve.

Website

• As soon as Lord Hutton's report is published in Parliament, it will simultaneously be available on the Hutton Inquiry website in both HTML and PDF format.
• Media organisations may download and save the PDF version of the Report and place it on their websites. In so doing they should acknowledge the Hutton Inquiry website as their source and also carry the report's special copyright notice. On the day, the direct link to the area of the site containing the Report will be http://www.the-hutton-inquiry.org.uk/content/report/index.htm

Hard Copies & CD-ROM

1. Court and Press Gallery Distribution:

• One copy of the Report will be given to each ticket holder in Courts 75 & 76, once it is published and Lord Hutton has finished reading his statement.
• Copies of the Report will be available immediately on publication to members of the Parliamentary Press Gallery (one each only) and will be issued by DCA staff.

2. RCJ Media Collection Point:

On publication, copies of the Report will be available for immediate distribution from the Bell Yard at the Royal Courts of Justice. [Please note, it will not be possible to watch Lord Hutton's statement on TV from this point]. Reports will be issued to media organisations according to the following formula:

UK National Print plus PA, AP, Reuters & Evening Standard 5
UK National Broadcast Organisations 10
UK Regional Print 1
UK Regional Broadcast Organisations 1
UK Specialist media 1
Media organisations are responsible for their own internal allocation.

• For UK media, the allocated reports can be collected by either correspondents or couriers carrying clear identification in the form of either a recognised press card or a letter from the Editor on headed paper identifying the holder and authorising collection. The letter must carry immediate contact details in case confirmation is required.
• Hard copies of the Report must be collected; they will not be delivered. The Report is of a substantial size. All copies for each organisation must be collected at the same time.
