START DATE FOR HUTTON INQUIRY
Lord Hutton had a meeting with Mrs Kelly, the widow of Dr
David Kelly, in her home on Saturday morning, 26th July. The meeting took
place at Lord Hutton's request. At the meeting he told Mrs Kelly that
the Inquiry would meet any legal costs which she might incur in relation
to it.
Lord Hutton had originally intended not to commence sitting until after
Dr Kelly's funeral. However as the funeral will not take place for some
time, Mrs Kelly has told Lord Hutton that she would have no objection
to a preliminary sitting of the Inquiry before the funeral.
Therefore Lord Hutton has decided to hold a preliminary sitting of the
Inquiry on Friday 1st August at 11am in Court Room 73 in the Royal Courts
of Justice in the Strand. At that preliminary sitting he will state how
he intends to conduct the Inquiry and the course which he intends to follow.
He will also hear applications from interested parties to be represented
by counsel or solicitors and any other applications which may be relevant
at that stage. He will then adjourn the Inquiry until after Dr Kelly's
funeral.
